Government-funded US scholarships for international students:
Fulbright Foreign Student Program – Perhaps the most popular government-funded US scholarships for international students, Fulbright offers scholarships for graduate students, young professionals and artists to study in the US for one year or more. This scholarship is open to international students in all fields excluding medicine.
Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program – This is a non-degree scholarship program for international, experienced professionals wishing to undertake 10 months of academic study in the US. Although the funding does not support degree qualifications, students are able to study and develop their knowledge at academic institutions across the nation.
For Asian students:
East-West Center Scholarships and Fellowships – These Scholarships are for international students from the Asia-Pacific region to study in selected US institutions.
Japan-United States Friendship Commission – An initiative run by Japan and the US, this commission offers grant programs to Japanese students wishing to study in the US (and vice versa).
Wesleyan Freeman Asian Scholarship Program – This Scholarship is for 11 exceptional Asian students to study in the US at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition and student fees.
There are other scholarships as well for foreign students that varies from one University to other and are dependent on the academic performance of the applicant.
UK Scholarships:
The Chevening Scholarships
These scholarships are offered by the UK government to individuals with impressive academic record and who demonstrate high leadership potential. Recipients of the scholarships are personally selected by British Embassies around the world. Future decision-makers have a chance to develop academically, to create professional networks, experience the UK culture, and much more. The scholarship program offers financial support to study a one-year master’s degree at any of the UK’s leading universities. There are over 1,500 Chevening Scholarships offered globally during every academic cycle.
The Commonwealth Scholarships
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) awards a wide range of scholarships and fellowships, including:
- Commonwealth PhD Scholarships
- Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships
- Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships

The scholarships are offered each year to students coming from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries, who cannot study in the UK without this financial support. Candidates are selected based on their previous academic results and their potential to aid in developing a better life for people in their home countries.
The Royal Society Grants
The Royal Society is a Fellowship of many of the world’s most eminent scientists. It is also the oldest scientific academy in the world that remains active even today. The Royal Society has 3 main goals:
- To promote excellence in science
- To support collaboration at an international level
- To prove the importance of science to everyone

Scholarships from UK universities
All Universities in the UK offers scholarships for international students based on their academic achievements or financial needs. Some Universities even waive-off IELTS requirement if the student has secured good % of marks in their UG or higher secondary studies.

French Scholarships:
Eiffel Excellence Scholarships:
The Eiffel scholarship program was developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a tool to allow French higher education institutions to attract the best foreign students for master’s and PhD degree programs. Eiffel scholarship-holders on master’s courses receive an allowance of €1,181 and scholarship-holders on PhD courses receive an allowance of €1,400.
École Normale Supérieure International Selection:
Each year, the ENS organizes an international selection allowing about thirty of the most promising international students, either in Science or in Humanities, to follow a two or three-year course at the ENS. They receive a monthly stipend of approximately 1,000 Euros for 2-3 years. About 30 foreign students are awarded each year.
Emile Boutmy Scholarships at Sciences Po University:
Sciences Po created the Emile Boutmy Scholarships after the founder of Sciences Po to attract the very best international students from outside of the European Union who are applying for and were previously admitted to Sciences Po University. The scholarships can take different forms ranging from €5,000 to €10,000 for 2 years of postgraduate study or €3,000 to €12,300 for 3 years of undergraduate study.
Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation Scholarships:
The Grenoble Institute of Technology Foundation supports a scholarship program for international students who wish to pursue an international master program at Grenoble INP. The grant amounts to 5,000 euros per semester.
INSEAD MBA Scholarships:
The INSEAD Scholarships are limited in number and there is significant competition for each award. These scholarships are granted under various criteria and fall into two major categories: need-based and non-need based (based on either merit, nationality, gender, professional background, leadership abilities, field of previous studies etc.). The value of the scholarships ranges from $5,000 to $25,000.
HEC Paris MBA Scholarships:
HEC Paris offers generous scholarships to international students from different countries and backgrounds. HEC scholarships fall into various categories: merit-based, need-based or based on specific criteria. The amount of the scholarship varies from €6,000 to €24,000.
Latvian Scholarships:
As per the bilateral agreements made between the Latvian government and several Asian countries, the State Education Development Agency of Latvia (SEDA; Lat. Valsts izglītības attīstības aģentūra – VIAA) offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staffs.
For Bachelor’s, Master’s and First level of professional higher education studies students can receive
500 Euros Per month. PhD students can receive 670 Euros Per month.
Many other University specified Scholarships are available for Meritorious students.
